No one likes to lose in sport let alone in business.
What a week in cricket.
“We don’t like cricket we love it”
I say
I don’t like cricket oh no
I love it
I don’t like cricket no no
I love it
Don’t you walk thru my words
You got to show some respect
Don’t you walk thru my words
‘Cause you ain’t heard me out yet
It is a tough gig working in sports administration. It is a bit like working for the ATO, no one really likes you, but you are there to do a job.
There are so many stakeholders you must please & everyone has an opinion whether good or bad.
Mixing passion, emotion, business, cold beer & the summer heat in sport can be a recipe for disaster. Maybe too long between drinks where the crowd & keyboard warriors have their say.
Many sports just like in business go through transition times & reviews.
Cricket needs to accept the change & show the willingness & if some must fall on their swords so be it. It may be time to pass the bat.
The losers are the participants who just want to play & get on with the game & have fun.
Cricket needs to take a look in the mirror & ask themselves are they making decisions in the best interests of the game, participants & members & for the youth & future of cricket in Australia because
“We don’t like cricket we love it”
